About the Course

Get Vet Ready: Foundations for Canine Cooperative Care

If this sounds too good to be true, let me assure you it is not! In this course, I will teach you strategies and cooperative care techniques to use when training your dog that will transfer to your pet’s veterinary care team when the time is right. You will teach your dog that the vet clinic is a safe and exciting place, not something to be feared.

In this course, you will learn:

  • How to read your dog’s body language. This will ensure that you know if your dog is comfortable and engaged throughout your training sessions and during their veterinary visits too.
  • Opt-in behaviours. Using a chin rest and/or stationing behaviour, you will give your dog the power to opt in and out of veterinary procedures as they wish! No more guessing if your dog is feeling OK or not.
  • Predictor cues. Your dog will learn to associate words with specific touch points, lessening their fear, minimizing stress, and increasing communication.
  • How to introduce equipment to the veterinary exam with a step-by-step approach that will help your dog learn how and when these tools will be used.
  • How to do a mock veterinary exam. This type of training for care can also transfer to in-home husbandry procedures.
